Black businesses are becoming more more established now a days and the thing is the only way to make black business the norm Is by supporting them. 

Only problem is no one knows who and what are the black businesses that are making noise out here in these business streets! Well I’m here to do my part but before we get started let me re-introduce myself. 10. Hightowers Petroleum Co  

This company has been around for 58 years and still going strong. From supply chain management, HPC Fleet cards, inventory management, to its bread and butter bulk fuel delivery. Hightower’s Petroleum was established by Stephen Hightower. It currently has 52 employees and the company is worth $435 million and its privately owned. So unfortunately we can’t invest in this company. 

9. Urban One 

This black owned broadcasting company is based out of Silver Spring, Maryland. It has 53 radio stations under its belt, a television network TV One, Digital media company iOne and news provider NewsOne. 

Self titled as the “leading voice of Black America” Urban one is considered the largest distributor of urban content in the U.S.  You can invest in Urban One Inc on the Nasdaq under ticker UONEK.

8. The Aderson-Dubose Company

This black owned distribution company is actually the reason that you have a Happy Meal or burrito in the Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York State and West Virginia area of the United States. Yup, The Anderson-Dubose Company handles the logistics for McDonalds and Chipotle fast food restaurants. They have two locations. A 210, 000 sq ft facility in Lordstown, Ohio and the other is Rochester, New York. 

They have a revenue of $703 million with 543 employees. No investment opportunities to directly invest in The Anderson-Dubose Company but I guess if you invest in McDonalds and Chipotle then your indirectly investing into The Anderson-Dubose company. 

7. Thompson Hospitality Corp

An award wining company back in 2010, 2017 and 2019. This minority owned company was born as a service company just for the restaurant industry branched out in to offer all services of the hospitality industry. With a revenue around $760 million is one of the most prominent black owned businesses in the U.S. 

6. Bridgeman Foods 

Formerly known as Menna Inc, Bridgeman foods has bridged multiple restaurants under one big umbrella of businesses. Owning The Napa River Grill, The Layover Bar, Jimmy John’s, 7 Blaze Pizza Restaurants, 6 Mark’s Feed Store Restaurants, 83 Fazoli’s restaurants, 27 Golden Corral Buffet and Grill restaurants and 139 Wendy’s restaurants. 

Founded in 1988 and located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, with 20,000 employees they have a revenue of $870 million. Bridgeman is a privately owned company but you can invest in the franchises they run like Wendy’s Restaurant. Which is ticker WEN on the Nasdaq.

5. Modular Assembly Innovations

This black owned automotive parts conglomerate is one the largest black owned businesses in America. Part of the machinery manufacturing industry Modular Assembly Innovations is the parent company of a group of MAI Companies that include Great Lakes Assemblies, Gulf shore assemblies, Indiana Assemblies and North American Assemblies. 

You would think this award winning  company with so much size and revenue of over a billion dollars would be public and you would be able to invest in it but you’re wrong. Its actually still privately owned. 

4. Coca-Cola Beverages Florida 

Another award winning black owned company that is not public but you can invest in through its parent company Coca-Cola Under ticker KO. Now even though Coca-Cola Beverages Of Florida is connected to Coca Cola it still is its own entity. It’s an independent beverage bottler company with over 18 million consumers across 47 counties of the state of Florida.

This is includes the major markets of  Tampa, Orlando, Miami and Jacksonville. They have a revenue of $1.3 billion and did I mention its family owned?

3. Bridgewater Interiors LLC

 This is one of the O.G.s of the interior business and we are not talking interior design. We are talking about where damn near over half of American’s sit everyday, car interiors for automotive vehicles. 

Started over 20 years ago Bridgewater Interiors is the just in time manufacture for General Motors, Honda and Ford. They are based in Detroit Michigan with 2400 employees and a revenue of $1.9 billion. 

2. Act 1 Group

 The global leader in the Human Resources industry is a black owned, privately held corporation based in Torrance California. Started in 1964 they are a major provider of workforce management, employment and procurement solutions. 

Act 1 Group operates in 19 countries around the world with 17,000 clients and 2600 employees worldwide with a revenue of $2.8 billion dollars. 

  1. World Wide Technology 

This black owned tech company was founded back in 1990. Now they provide supply chain technology to 45% of Fortune 500 companies. Some of the companies include Microsoft, At&T, Cisco, Boeing and even the US Air Force. 

World Wide tech only employees 3800 people and operates in more then 20 facilities through out the world. You would think World Wide Tech would be bigger considering it has a revenue of $11.2 billion annually. 

So those are the top 10 black owned businesses in the U.S. by revenue and size. These companies are major players in industries that off the top of the dome you wouldn’t guess but hey its very inspiring.
