West Hollywood’s Nino Mier Gallery is the next art space to launch an online viewing room to support its entire roster of artists. Aptly titled “PAPER (and one on wood),” the digital presentation largely features works on paper with the exception of one piece on wood by both local and international artists. Participants include Louise Bonnet who explores internalized anxieties and external pressures in her figurative works, Michael Bauer who creates figurative composites from abstraction and design, as well as Polly Borland who is known for her unsettling and stylized portraits.
In regards to the theme of the show, the gallery expressed: “The current climate is hindering a lot of our artists to create larger-scale projects or simply get to their studio. Thus the idea of doing a show that features only works on paper (sub one) stems in part from that. It also celebrates the practice, which many artists already have as part of their oeuvre, but some just started to work in due to the stay-at-home order internationally.”
Altogether, the show features over 100 works by over 30 artists. Ten percent of profits from the sale of the works will be donated to the Los Angeles Food Bank where $100 USD can feed 400 people in need. Visit Nino Mier’s website to check out the online viewing room.
Elsewhere in art, Hastings Contemporary has launched robot tours to provide access to the arts during lockdown.
