Apple Plans $100 Million Racial-Justice Initiative

Apple Inc. and YouTube each announced $100 million initiatives Thursday to combat racism, with the iPhone maker pledging to invest in education and criminal-justice reform and the Google unit to amplify “the voices of black creators and artists.”

Apple’s effort will be led by head of public affairs and social policy Lisa Jackson, who ran the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency during the Obama administration. She joined the company in 2013.
