Excellence Resorts has a reputation for quality, and the group’s Playa Mujeres property pulls off the enormously difficult task of providing a high-calibre experience for just about any type of vacation. Removed from the crowds of the Hotel Zone and Avenida Kukulkan, guests here are greeted to attentive and meticulous service, with spacious and modern suite accommodations and an atmosphere that more closely resembles an upscale hotel. Eleven restaurants offer high-quality dining and a mix of global cuisines that will ensure guests are never bored (the elegant French bistro Chez Isabelle is a standout). The property features seven swimming pools (two exclusively for Excellence Club members, making it worth the splurge), with an east-facing beach offering prime sunset views. Meanwhile, the brand’s beloved Miilé Spa features a hydrotherapy circuit and curated treatments sure to impress any wellness enthusiast.

As the all-inclusive model continues to evolve, luxury travelers are seeking all-inclusive resorts that mirror the type of experience found at an upscale hotel, which is where Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun comes in. While this property is located in the busy Hotel Zone, you’ll feel completely removed from the hustle and bustle once you step inside. The included butler service makes every request a reality, and all 259 of the modern guest rooms and suites offer ocean or lagoon views. Bvlgari toiletries add to the indulgent atmosphere, the design-forward pools look straight out of a magazine and the dining outlets are some of the best in Cancun (the intimate French concept Lumière is the only restaurant that requires reservations—once you dine there, you’ll understand why it’s so popular). Just take note that the crowd here tends to be quieter and older, which adds to the property’s intimate atmosphere: It may not be the best choice for those seeking nightlife.

What Not To Miss: The property’s two beautiful infinity pools

These days, prices for all-inclusive resorts seem to be rapidly climbing, but there are still many good deals to be had. Take Hilton Cancun, for example: With its spacious rooms, easy to navigate layout, and modern interiors that look like they would easily fit into one of Hilton’s more upscale brands, families and friend groups can nab a room at this resort for under $600 a night throughout most of the year, with prices often dropping below $400 during off-season. It’s certainly a steal when you consider the resort is fairly new—it opened in late 202src—and offers a wide variety of quality dining options for an all-inclusive resort in this price range. Families in particular will have a great time here, as there are plenty of entertainment options, fitness classes and activities for young ones. Added bonus: Well-made drinks (no watered-down margaritas) are available for the adults to enjoy.

What Not To Miss: Chef’s Dinner at Latin fusion Mb restaurant
Ages: Adults only (src8 and older)
Location: Hotel Zone
Distance To Airport: src2 miles
Restaurant Reservations Required: Inlaakech only
Perched directly on the white sands of Cancun beach, Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun offers an ideal location for travelers who plan their Cancun vacations around being in the water. Here, guests have direct access to the Caribbean Sea, alongside a stunning infinity pool, multiple shoreline hammocks and sea views from every room. Higher-floor rooms, part of the Aqua Club, are worth the splurge for their sweeping vistas; guests can also enjoy nine restaurants and five bars, including Sea Corner, which serves up a delectable menu of casual tacos and ceviche, and the Latin fusion Mb restaurant, which features an impressive Chef’s Dinner experience. The property is also located just across the street from the popular La Isla Shopping Village, home to plenty of local boutiques. Just keep in mind that while a few of the bars host drinks and dancing into the late hours, don’t expect a robust nightlife scene here.

What Not To Miss: The daily wine and cheese at sunset
Ages: Adults and teens (src6 and older)
Location: Playa Mujeres
Distance To Airport: 20 miles
Restaurant Reservations Required: Yes
It could be the five-star rating, attentive service, or perhaps the spacious and contemporary suites that has helped Atelier Playa Mujeres cultivate such a loyal clientele. But it’s the property’s src3 restaurants and src2 bars that are the real stand-out. While some all-inclusive resorts have earned a reputation for mediocre dining, that’s far from the case at Atelier. From excellent steaks at Los Abrazos to the flavor-filled al dente pastas at Cilento (don’t miss out on the pesto, and don’t be too shy to order multiple dishes), there’s no bad option on the menu at Atelier. The Michelin-recommended María Delores by Edgar Nuñez restaurant, which is not a part of the inclusive rate, is worth the splurge (guests who stay in an upgraded Inspira suite get one free dinner here). And the resort’s beverages are equally superb; bartenders here operate on a mixologist level, slinging true craft cocktails that wouldn’t feel out of place at a high-end bar.

Located on the quieter Isla Mujeres, a ferry ride away from mainland Cancun, the property is comprised of just src25 suites, all with rain showers, a private balcony or terrace (some with ocean views), Le Labo toiletries and attentive butler service. The décor of both the rooms and the wider property showcase a blend of traditional Mexican craftsmanship with Mediterranean design, giving it a high-end feel reminiscent of a boutique hideaway in Santorini. Seven on-site restaurants, including the stand-out Italian outlet Spezia, all offer high-quality meals with attentive service, and a full-service spa is on hand for couples to enjoy.

What Not To Miss: Privilege, the brand’s third adults-only pool lounge outside of Dubai and Baha Mar

Location: Playa Mujeres
Distance to Airport: src5 miles

The first all-inclusive resort from lifestyle brand SLS recently opened its doors in Playa Mujeres, providing a refreshing blend of lifestyle-oriented boutique hotel and upscale all-inclusive. Sleek and modern design, luxe amenities and prime beach access make it a desirable reprieve for adults, with amenities like Privilege—only the world’s third SLS adults-only pool lounge after the ones in Dubai and Baha Mar—making it a stand-out for groups of friends or bachelorette parties. The resort also strikes the balance of having enough child-centric activities for young ones to enjoy while still being a stylish and vibrant enough resort that feels geared towards young adults. Foodies can indulge in a wide range of restaurants and bars, including the sophisticated Smoke & Mirrors speakeasy and the well-executed Caracol, featuring a menu influenced by the Puebla, Mexico hometown of its head chef, James Beard Award winner Hugo Ortega. How To Pick An All-Inclusive Resort In Cancun
Many all-inclusive resorts in Cancun offer similar base amenities including unlimited food and drink, pool and beach access, on-site entertainment and room service. But beyond that, each property provides a unique experience. Here’s what to consider as you’re perusing your options.
Location
A majority of resorts are located in the Hotel Zone, which stretches nearly src4 miles along the Caribbean coastline. While the Hotel Zone offers unmatched convenience, it’s also the most popular spot for tourists. If you’re looking for a calmer atmosphere, Playa Mujeres is a short drive in the northern part of Cancun, providing a more laid-back experience.
Party Size
The number of people you’re traveling with should also factor into your decision. If you’re going on a romantic getaway with a significant other, a more intimate, adults-only resort will likely fit the bill. If you’re traveling with extended family, consider a larger resort with plenty of dining options and areas catered to both adults and children.
Activity Level
Some travelers prioritize relaxation while on vacation, choosing to spend a majority of their time lounging at the beach or pool. Others look forward to exhilarating water sports, fitness classes and specialty workshops. Spend some time researching the activity options each resort offers to find a spot that caters to your party’s interests and activity level.
Budget
When you book an all-inclusive trip, you’re able to see exactly how much you’ll be spending up front. Beyond that flat rate, some resorts offer add-on experiences—everything from spa treatments to off-site excursions—for an additional cost. Make sure to review everything that’s included in the all-inclusive rate so you can budget for add-ons if you wish.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What Is The Best Time To Go To A Cancun All-Inclusive Resort?
While Cancun is mostly a year-round destination, the best month to visit Cancun is the shoulder season: mid-October and November. The rainy season will have just ended and the humidity has lessened. Average daily temperatures are 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The nights can dip down to the low 70s. The crowds have not started arriving for the holiday season, so the energy is still high, but without the throngs of tourists. Cancun’s high season, between December and mid-April, promises excellent weather, but will certainly be more crowded (especially during traditional spring break.)
Is An All-Inclusive Resort Worth It?
Yes, an all-inclusive resort can definitely be worth it, mainly because it helps remove the stress from planning a vacation. You know exactly how much you’re paying upfront, so you can budget accordingly. These resorts have dining, beach access and entertainment built into the all-inclusive price, which means you can spend less time tallying up each individual expense and more time unplugging and relaxing. However, if you’re the type of traveler who likes to branch out and explore while on vacation, it may not be worth it to pay for an all-inclusive resort.
What Do All-Inclusive Cancun Resorts Include?
Each Cancun resort differs slightly in what it offers in its all-inclusive price. As a baseline, you can expect that price to cover the rate of your room, all meals and beverages, and pool and beach access. Some resorts go above and beyond by offering additional activities at no extra cost, like fitness classes, craft workshops and e-bike tours. Typically, spa treatments and offsite excursions can be added onto your package for an additional fee.
Do You Tip At Cancun All-Inclusive Resorts?
Most all-inclusive resorts include tips, but if you want to leave something extra for outstanding service, it’s better to tip in pesos. Many tourists tip in U.S. dollars, but it’s a hassle for employees to exchange it for the local currency, so you can save them this extra step.
