CDC Reverses Relaxation of Covid-19 Testing Recommendations

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidance for Covid-19 testing on Friday, walking back a controversial recommendation from last month that close contacts of patients don’t necessarily need to be tested if they don’t have symptoms.

Many public-health authorities and infectious-disease experts criticized the August change, citing the necessity of testing close contacts to help stop transmission chains and concerns that the revision hadn’t come from experts within the agency.
