Plenty of fans are still discovering the glory that is Dragon Quest XI, but it’s never too early to look ahead to the future. The latest on the series comes from creator Yuji Horii himself, who shared a New Years’ card and message on Twitter. In addition to looking back on the series and last year’s announcements, he took a moment to mention Dragon Quest XII.
According to Horii, the next numbered entry in the long-running series is “still a little while ahead.” He goes on to say they may release some things before that, but, 33 years after the release of the first game, he can challenge new tasks like the production of Dragon Quest XII.

In the meantime, Horii asks for the support of Dragon Quest fans throughout the new year.
