7 Steps To Building Business Credit
Step 1. Register Your Business
There is no business without actually getting a federal tax identification number aka a EIN Number. You can easily get your free EIN on http://irs.gov. It won’t take you long to do either.
Step 2. Stay Up to date with your information.
Definitely check your information with all the credit bureaus. You need to know your credit.
You can actually request your full report online for free. Go to freecreditreport.com and as long as you haven’t done so already you can get it for free at least once a year.
Step 3 Trade Lines Have To Established
You have to get a trade line open with a supplier of some sort. It all depends what type of business you have. Any business needs some type of supplies even if it’s just office supplies. You can go to Uline.com and or Grainger.com to get a trade line started for your business.
Step 4. Pay Creditors On Time
A long credit history will definitely help you gain bigger loan amounts so you want to make sure you start using your credit as soon as you can get some but don’t use more the 20-30 percent of your available credit.
Step 5. Borrow From The Right Lenders
Contrary to what most people think but not every lender or credit card company report to every credit bureau. So you want to borrow from creditors and lenders that report to at least 2 out of 3 credit bureaus to give you a better chance of building your business credit to a A1 credit score.
