When it comes to starting a business like this you should first start out by learning through working for someone else and get certified as an homes automation technician.
There are a few different ways to get certified but I recommend taking this free course on home automation. I have a special link in the description to get started with today.
Once you complete this course I would say find a job for smart home installers. The reason is you want to get comfortable and seasoned in installing home automation. You can start this business from scratch or you can possibly buy into a franchise it’s up to you.
I’ve done my research on each way to start this business. Let’s take a look at both options and go from there.
First lets talk about starting a home automation business from scratch. Get your llc and business bank account up and running. You will need to get all certifications and licenses to operate your business in your local area.
Next you will need to find a way to source your home automation products. Preferably at a deep discount. Thats so you can sell them to your clients at retail cost or you can set them up with installation and the product at a cheaper rate if purchased together.
Now you know where to source your product you can then find a place to store your product. You can use your garage or you can store the product in a storage facility located near your home or service area.
It all depends what’s more convenient for you and your business. The next move would be to get a van to make your visits to your clients when they request installation and or service on the home automation product.
I would build my business credit and purchase the van in my business name as your doing all this you will also need to set up a business website that’s so you can have a online presence especially the fact that most of your clients will be looking for your business online. Second of all this is the easiest place to sell your home automation products and service.
Now let’s look at buying into a home automation franchise. There are tons of different home automation franchises out there but the one I’ve found seems to be a very good company to take a look at.
The company is Level Up Smart Home Automation. It’s been in business since 2016 and has been actively franchising since 2020. Even though its a been a short while its been franchising this can work in your advantage because these type of companies have a low barrier of entry to buy a franchise with Level Up Smart Home Automation you’ll need to have at least $50,000 in liquid capital.
Franchisees can expect to make a total investment of $56,300 – $72,700. They also offer financing via 3rd party as well as a discount for veterans (15% Off Franchise Purchase).
This is fairly affordable compared to most franchises.
The 6 reasons this business Is a great franchise to buy is for one its a Home Based Business so you don’t need some brick and mortar location to start this business.
The Capital Investment Includes Start Up Expenses. You get yourself Branded Vehicle, Starter Kits With Certification Paths Training and Support plus you get Online Level Up Certification Training.
The few things you do have that are needed to be successful beyond just money. You will need to be a self Starter and strong management skills. Be willing to acquire the skill of selling if you don’t have it already and a 650 credit score at least to get started.
All in all I’m more of a start a business from the bottom and grow it but the choice is yours. If you’re in need of business funding and have a 600 and up credit score click here and get started today.
