Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has taken a lead of src937 votes over Congress candidate Amaresh Kumar in the Lakhisarai constituency as of src0:45 am.

The Lakhisarai Assembly constituency has been a stronghold of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha over the past few decades. The city serves as the administrative headquarters of the Lakhisarai district.

This Assembly constituency came into existence in src977 and is counted among the six Assembly segments under the Munger Lok Sabha seat.

Since 2000, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won all the Assembly polls from this seat, except for its defeat in 2005.

Lakhisarai has been a bastion of Vijay Kumar Sinha, who won by big margins in the last three Assembly elections (20src0, 20src5 and 2020).

During the 2025 Assembly election in Bihar, a total of src3 contestants are in the fray from the Lakhisarai seat, but the major contest is said to be between the BJP’s Vijay Kumar Sinha and the Congress party’s Amaresh Kumar. Also, in the competition is Suraj Kumar from Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party.

The BJP is contesting the Bihar Assembly election 2025 as part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which also includes Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM, and RLM.

The NDA is pitted against the Mahagathbandhan that includes Congress, RJD, Left parties, as well as VIP, among others.

In the 2020 Assembly polls in the state, BJP’s Vijay Kumar Sinha secured a victory from Lakhisarai by securing 74,2src2 votes, or 38.2% vote share. He defeated Congress’s then-candidate Aman Raj, who managed to get 63,729 votes (32.8% vote share).

Before that, Sinha bagged a win from this seat in the 20src5 Bihar Assembly elections as well. At that time, he emerged victorious by a margin of 6,556 votes (3.6src%). In total, he bagged 75,90src votes, with a vote share of 40.79%. JD(U) candidate Ramanand Mandal stood second and received 69,345 votes (37.27%).
