Life While Building Wealth: January 15 — Being Present Is the Real Flex
January 15th landed on a Thursday, and today was one of those days that reminds me why I’m chasing $140,000 a year—and beyond.
The workday itself ran long. There was a situation on the job that required immediate attention, real investigation, and accountability. I’m not getting into details, but it was serious enough that it demanded focus, leadership, and follow-through. That’s the weight that comes with responsibility. I didn’t leave work until around 7:30 PM. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

If I’m being honest, this isn’t what I picture when I imagine life at $140K.
In that version of my life, the nights still look productive—but without the unnecessary drama. I’m leaving work at a reasonable hour. Five o’clock. Five-thirty. Maybe six on a longer day. I’m stopping by the store on the way home—not for survival, but for continuity. A bottle of wine. Eggs. A few small things to keep the household moving smoothly. Nothing major. Just presence. Just participation.
When I walked through the door tonight, my daughter lit up.
She was genuinely happy to see me. That kind of happiness that stops you in your tracks. She wanted to sit with me, play, laugh, joke, be close. Those moments hit differently when you realize time doesn’t slow down. She’s getting older. More vibrant. More herself every single day.
And I don’t want to miss this chapter.
The space between adolescence and teenage years isn’t something you can rewind. Being here—really here—means more to me than any title or paycheck ever could. That’s the real reason I’m committed to becoming the kind of person who attracts $140,000 a year and more. Not just to earn it—but to deserve it.
What caught me off guard tonight was how unfamiliar being home felt.
That realization sat heavy with me.
It felt strange being around during a weekday evening. Watching my wife move through her routine. Not in a bad way—but in a revealing way. I don’t fully know her nightly rhythm because I’m usually not here. I don’t even know what time my kids go to bed most nights. That hit me harder than I expected.
That’s not how I want to live.
If I’m making $140K—or more—I’m here at night. I’m part of the bedtime routine. I know what’s happening in my kids’ lives in real time, not in passing. I’m present for the moments that don’t make it into highlight reels but define family.
That’s the goal.
Not just more money—but more access to my life.
And that’s why I’m locked in.

Weekly $140K Progress Check
Every week, I’m focused on closing the gap between where I am and where I’m going.
Current Baseline: ~$90,000/year
Target: $140,000+
Gap: ~$50,000
This week’s focus:
- Strengthening my position for higher-compensation operations leadership roles
- Actively building income streams tied to my real-world experience (operations, logistics, systems)
- Continuing to document the journey through Wealthbuilderz as a long-term asset
No shortcuts. No lottery thinking.
Just consistent execution until the numbers change.
This isn’t about imagining a better life—it’s about building one, day by day and week by week.
