Ruth Lansford has offered her support to Dr Alex George after the Love Island star revealed he’d lost his brother to mental health on an Instagram post this week.

A devastated Alex admitted he was still in shock over losing his ‘beautiful’ teenage brother Llŷr, who was weeks away from taking up a place at medical school.

The doctor, 30, was inundated with messages from followers and his celebrity friends with This Morning host Ruth reaching out to him.

Sadly, Ruth has experience of Alex’s trauma after her beloved sister Julia took her own life in June last year at the age of 62.



Kind Ruth left a message for Dr Alex to get in touch with her if he needs any support

Ruth, who is married to Eamonn Holmes, responded to Alex’s post with a heartfelt message and urged him to get in touch if he need someone to talk to.

“Alex I am so, so sorry for your tragic loss. I lost my sister to mental health last year so I understand the pain and shock you and your family will be feeling,” shared Ruth.

“I send you the hugest of hugs and if you ever need to talk you know how to reach me.

“My condolences to you and your family and may your darling brother rest in peace,” she told Alex.

Ruth reached out to Alex after he posted to Instagram about his lost

Ruth had been heartbroken by the sudden death of her sister June, who she told followers had endured a ‘very long illness.’

“She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family.

“Thank you for your understanding,” Ruth said at the time.

Following the family tragedy, Ruth withdrew from all of her TV commitments and asked husband Eamonn to read a statement on her behalf to This Morning viewers explaining what had happened.



Dr Alex has been left heartbroken

Dr Alex George shared a very upsetting post on his instagram page this week as he told his online followers that his brother, who is understood to be 19, had lost his battle with mental health.

He wrote: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post.

“I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul.

“I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain.

“As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”
