Funding for the second phase has not yet been fully secured, and a general contractor has not been announced, according to the state agency.
Once both phases reach completion, U.S. 90 will feature a six-lane expressway with three main lanes and continuous frontage roads in each direction. The highway is currently only four lanes.
Plans also include the construction of a roundabout on the south side of U.S. 90, as well as improvements to intersections and sidewalks. Improvements will also include the addition of shoulders and auxiliary lanes, according to the Texas DOT.
